Veli-Hopea kirjoitti:Muistaakseni KISSAT on yksi kyseenalainen kotieläin, näitä kun oli palvottu ehkäpä jumalina.
Hyvä havainto.
Sopisi kieltää kissatkin, koska kissa sanaa ei ole Raamatussa, kuten siinä ei mainita juutalaisten syntymäpäivän viettoakaan.

Pakana? Pakanallinen (alkuperä,.)

Mitä se edes tarkoittaa?
pagan (n.) Look up pagan at Dictionary.com
late 14c., from Late Latin paganus "pagan," in classical Latin "villager, rustic; civilian, non-combatant" noun use of adjective meaning "of the country, of a village," from pagus "country people; province, rural district," originally "district limited by markers," thus related to pangere "to fix, fasten," from PIE root *pag- "to fix" (see pact). As an adjective from early 15c.

Religious sense is often said to derive from conservative rural adherence to the old gods after the Christianization of Roman towns and cities; but the word in this sense predates that period in Church history, and it is more likely derived from the use of paganus in Roman military jargon for "civilian, incompetent soldier," which Christians (Tertullian, c.202; Augustine) picked up with the military imagery of the early Church (e.g. milites "soldier of Christ," etc.). Applied to modern pantheists and nature-worshippers from 1908.
One entry found for pagan.
Main Entry: pa·gan
Pronunciation: primarystresspamacr-gschwan
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English pagan "heathen," from Latin paganus (same meaning), from earlier paganus "person who lives in a rural area," from pagus "village, district"
1 : HEATHEN 1
2 : a person who is not religious
- pagan adjective
- pa·gan·ism /-gschwa-secondarystressniz-schwam/ noun
Word History In ancient Rome a person living in a rural area or village was called paganus, a word derived from the Latin noun pagus, meaning "village, district." In time paganus came to refer to a civilian as opposed to a soldier. When Christianity became generally accepted in the towns and cities of the empire, paganus was used to refer to a villager who continued to worship the old gods. Christians used the term for anyone not of their faith or of the Jewish faith. The word in Old English for such a person was what is now heathen. In the 14th century, English borrowed the Latin paganus as pagan, and used it with the same meaning. In time both heathen and pagan also took on the meaning of "a person having no religion."
Eli toisin sanoen pakanallinen alkuperä = "kyläläinen, maalaismainen, siviili, ei-taistelijan" juuret omaava alkuperä. :D

Syntymäpäivät omaavat siis kyläläiset, maalaismaiset, siviilit ja ei-taistelijan juuret :) kamalaa.

Vitsit mähän oon hauska :D Menkööt lauantain piikkin ja ihan selvinpäin kuten yleensä, huolimatta siitä että yleensä entiset todistajat liikkuvat alkoholistin leimalla...

Lisäys:

Nyt on sitten Hulavanteetkin pannassa JT tytöiltä (no.. pojiltakin). Kyllähän tekstissä selvästi tulee esille sen pakanallisuus.
Originally, the hula was called the "Ha`a". The name was changed to "Hula" in the l9th century. In 1820, Christian missionaries arrived in Hawaii and converted many of the people to the Christian religion. When Queen Ka'ahumanu became a Christian, she had the temples (Heiaus) and goddess images destroyed. Hula was banned as it was a pagan ritual dance with moves the missionaries saw as vulgar, disgusting and sinful. It was taught and performed only in secret for a while. King Kamehameaha III re-established Hula by default in the 1830's when he insisted on religious freedom. Unable to suppress the Hula completely, the missionaries then insisted that it only be done wearing high-neck gowns with long sleeves.
Ehkä JT lapset hyväksyvät tämän helpommin, mutta miten Ahvenainen ja Meilo pärjää, jos enään ei saa hulata? :D

Todistajille varmasti tärkeä, ettei nimeä lasta nimellä, jolla on pakanallinen alkuperä.

Otetaan nyt tähän syntymäpäivätouhuun mukaan tämä hauskat joulun surkiat "juuret" Sitähän ei vietetä ja kovasti monestikin ylpeänä mölistään kuinka mitään "pakanallista" / "juuria" omaavia juhlia ei vietellä. En tiedä sitten onko kukaan kehdannut tällaista sanoa NIKE merkkivaatteet tai kengät päällä.

Heitetään nyt niidenkin käyttö kyseenalaiseksi.
